What Apple didn’t show at the opening of WWDC 2022

The opening ceremony of WWDC 2022 turned out to be quite full of new products. Moreover, the products presented were mostly impressive. It has been a long time since such an event attracted so much interest. But only for software innovations the Apple giant seemed to concentrate on.

Back in spring Apple fans froze in anticipation of the presentation, or rather to get curious details about the devices. As a result, the company only unveiled two of its new products – the MacBook Pro 13 and the MacBook Air. The former is relatively modest, while the latter is really impressive and has already managed to win over millions of hearts. But earlier there was information about a few more gadgets.

MacBook

In spring, it was reported that the company was preparing an interesting three in terms of laptops. At the show, apple fans were expecting to learn more about the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac mini. Apple presented the first two, but it didn’t say a word about the “baby”. Interestingly, it was just supposed to be presented in two variants. But the manufacturer decided to remain silent. Nevertheless, it is reported that the Mac mini will be presented next spring.

A total of three computers are expected to be released:

  • MacBook Pro (14-inch diagonal, chim M2);
  • Mac Pro;
  • iMac (27-inch diagonal).

Incidentally, the latter may be called the iMac Pro, as the original iMac has a 24-inch display.

MR headset

There has long been talk of a new category of products from the company. It was expected that Apple representatives would all lift the veil of secrecy and share some details about it. But the miracle did not happen, and if we believe reputable figures, the mixed reality headset will not see the light until next year at the earliest.

The big question, however, is when a commercial prototype will be available to be seen. As it requires certain sets of parts to create it, the release could move smoothly to spring 2023. The main thing is that the company will provide at least some information about the novelty by then as the intrigue is already dragging on for a long time.

Car

To start with, the iPhone, iPad, AirPods were not even worth waiting for during the recent event. It has long been known that these products are only being presented in the autumn. Until then they could only give some details about them, but without an official release, a commercial sample and other things.

What was worth waiting for at the show was the previously announced car. Here too, though, the anticipation may have been overstretched. Such a development will not be presented to the public before the second half of this decade. By the way, the creation of the car also cannot be taken for 100 per cent certainty. It is possible that the company will not succeed in such a project.

However, the Apple giant has been very active in staff turnover in recent years. Interestingly, after an employee is sacked, a new one takes his place immediately, but which belongs to the automotive industry. This has led to a lot of rumours, even though it is not clear what the top of the company is going to do.
